Simple audio question
Trying to spec out a sub for my stealth and need some help. how do I know if I need a dual voice coil/single voice coil sub? The sub I'm looking at (fosgate p3 10) takes 500-550 watts rms and is offered in both configurations. The next step up is the power series T0 and is only offered in dual voice coil and in 1/4 ohm or 2/8 ohm. Trying to pair it with the right amp but the different configurations are confusing. Want to get maximum power to it whatever config is chosen. Thanks guys.

Thanks! Just to make sure I understand...If I get a dual voice coil sub with 2ohms each coil, can I wire it in parallel to produce a 1 ohm resistance to pair up with an amp that pushes 500 watts rms at 1 ohm? Any issues with heat generation or anything running at max power and low resistance?

Right, the dual voice if wired together will be at 1 ohm. If you have an amp that has multiple channels you could wire them to each individual voice coil at 2 ohms each. I would run them wired together. and make sure you have an amp that is capable to 1ohm. The amps get more expensive the lower in ohms they get.
