powder coating out drives?

Has anyone done this and how well does it hold up?

Im a big fan of exoxy. I've found powdercoat chips pretty easy. Epoxy seems to be holding up good on the stuff i did last year so i did my drives, gimbles and boxes this year. Just my .02

Friends drive was powder coated. Held up for a bit, but once it got a chip in it it came off in a sheet at speed.

rbesola what water conditions to you boat in and how long does the boat sty in the water? i boat in fresh water and leave boat in for up to 3 wks at a time than pull and power wash. what brand paint do you use and is it holding up to any types of corrosion because of stainless steel props, steering etc?

Used black Imron over DP90 primer on my Bravo with a nose cone installed and it has held up really well. Took a major hit on a submerged stump 13 years ago and laughed at it (and amazingly the drive was OK too - couldn't say the same about the gimbal and bell housing). Make sure you sand or glass bead it to give the primer something to bite into.

Can't beat dp 90 or 40! And Imron . Great combo.

Powdercoating uses lots of heat that might mess with some things. And the tape jobs usaully suck and you get overspray on something you don't want it on
