Oil Pan ?

Are there any other wet sump oil pans out there other than a Stef's for making horsepower? The front motor plate is really the killer for marine pans.

What I meant was you really can't have a kickout on the starboard side for making horsepower cause of the motor plate. Stef's builds a screen into that side of the pan which is better than nothing. Just wondering if there was anybody making a pan I'm missing...

That's what I'm talking about. But what are you gonna do about the motor plate and possibly the water pump...

Not sure. Maybe make a custom motor plate? 90 degree fittings on the water pump?

I gotta say the welding on that pan looks like chit. Not that I'm any better ,but I know a couple people that are

I know there are a lot of Canton marine oil pans and boxes at the shop.
They hold 10qts. I can get you some part #'s if that is what you are looking for.

I saw Eddies pans that he has fabricated when I was there last Christmas time and the pictures do them no justice. They are a awesome piece of work!

Perfect. Looks like Eddie knows how to squeeze some horsepower out of a motor. Ill bet that is a 25-30 horsepower bolt on.

Black Baja 03-11-2014 09:09 PM

I was actually thinking of making a pan if I was going to make one I would build the front motor plate into the pan so you could get a good kickout on the right side of the motor...

Their welder is incredible. Some of the nicest welding I have ever seen....anywhere.
On the contrary, I was less than pleased with some of the Stef pans I have seen. They just don't do it for me, but that's my opinion. I just had to plate the bottom of one because it was so thin that it was continuously cracking. We added 1/8" aluminum to the entire bottom of the pan.

That pan with a pickup, in any configuration needed (water pump clearance, motor mount clearance, stroke, etc.) is about $1100. They recently to a pretty big jump in price, several hundred dollar jump. The amount of time required to build one is incredible. Each one is completely hand made.

We carry the kickout as far forward as we can, but have to stop it to clear the water pump. If you look closely, there is still a small kickout all the way. It's a full 2" from the rear coming forward and them it steps down to about 1" by the water pump.

I'm on the same page doesnt look like they put a whole lot of thought/ engineering into there pan. I think they stopped making aluminum offshore pans for that reason.
