I was considering putting a set of bungs in the divorced collectors for my Lightning headers - they have a stainless steel inner pipe and a mild steel outer. Is there something special that has to be done with these, or just a regular old MIG or TIG weld?

I use a SS bung, but I am welding to SS. We tig weld them, which is really the only way to go. I'm not sure what to do in the case of your exhaust with the 2 different materials. I would consult a welder.

Wow! $95.00 for a brass fitting - doesn't even include the sensor! I guess that's because it has the word "marine" on it. Doesn't sound like it would work on most stainless risers, because it requires a flat spot for sealing. Oh well, thanks for the link.

Where's a good place to pick-up some stainless bungs?

If you have Capts choice, should you keep it set for thru-hull mode when the O2 sensor is installed?
Thought I saw that somewhere.

I ran mine with silent choice all the time. ran a point or so richer on the O2 but never had a problem.

depends a lot on the header/exhaust, I have lightning w/silent choice, have killed 3 in no time, never went to thru prop, even tried a 02 extender w/packing, but the lightnings dump the water way to close to where the 02 is...no win for us...good luck

Thx for the link Griswald. I like the lip idea on the bung.

ezstriper, how far was the sensor from the point where the water mixes w/exhaust? Where you running a long duration cam? Did they die at idle or at higher RPMs?

I've heard of people using O2 sensors screwed into spark plug de-foulers on cars. They were used to stabilize the readings on the post cat sensors to prevent getting cat inefficiency errors. Might help with a wet exh. Just at thought..
