heads
Hi any one out there using rhs pro action aluminum heads on their blower motors with good results. how do they stand up in salt water use. thanks
|
I had Pro Action 360cc heads on the blower motors in my Daytona. Bought them from New Zealand before Comp Cams acquired the company. These heads replaced Edelbrock Victor heads that cracked in the exhaust port. Made great horsepower and ran lots of hours. Made 1,100 HP on pump gas, 12 PSI, 572 CI, Hydraulic Roller, Intercooled. I put a lot of hours on these heads without a problem. That said was always fresh water. I noticed that the decks were very thick and solid, water passages were stout so I would speculate that they would work as good or better then other aluminum head in salt water. Bottom line aluminum heads in salt water will take a beating.....

Thanks for the response. Are the new castings from comp cams made in the usa?

Doesn't having them "Hard Anodized" combat the Salt water issues??
|
Don't know where they are manufactured now.

aluminum/salt don't mix well at all....
|
Do you know what company does hard anodized?
|
Afr, only problem is the deck surface where it seals to the gasket can still be compromised by salt and corrosion. The actual water jackets will be fine with the anodize. I just had to have a set welded because of the deck issue. Was only $150 to weld them and they were being resurfaced anyway.

Red who did you have weld them I have A set of afrs with the same problem
