Aeromotive Fuel Pump issues

Well after a nice long winter I attempted to start my Fountain with no luck. No fuel pressure.. Checked fuse to fuel pump it was blown... Threw another fuse popped when I turned the key. Third fuse has not popped yet but the pump is still not working. I checked the red wire on the pump and it doesn't have power unless the engine is cranking? Is that right? I assume it should have power when the key is on?

I have an aeromotive fuel pump system on my 496 carbed engine.

So from what I have read it has gone bad. I am not sure how it can happen sitting in a warm storage for 5 months but I guess it does.

Does anyone if these are repairable or do I have to buy another?

Should I buy another aero or something else?

Any help would be great!!

Ayuh,.... Jumper it directly to the battery, 'n see if it works,....

It gets power while crankin' from the starter,...
After it starts, it gets power from the ignition, but through an oil pressure switch,...
No power, with Just the key, On,...

I had the same thing happen to me. Send it back to aeromotive and they will repair it.

Mine was gummed up from ethanol blended fuel.

Aeromotive cleaned and "fixed" mine free of charge and it was well out of warranty

I called Aero they said they can rebuild it for $220.. But I won't have it for this weekend..

I am stuck what to do.. Buy a new pump for the weekend for $350 or get something else.

I really don't need that big of a pump for my carbed 496 stroker. It was on there from the supercharged 502 that used to be in the boat.

Any thoughts..

If you have a mechanical fuel pump boss on your block, could be a good time to go back to a more reliable mechanical fuel pump set-up. Not sure if you still have the pushrod and how hard the re-rig would be,,,,but just a thought.
