New Oil Coolers? Yes or No?

What's the concensus? One motor burned a hole in a piston due to detonation. Hammered the crankshaft bad enough to crack it at one of the mains so the bearings were pretty hammered. I cleaned the coolers very well, flushed both ways numerous times and for several minutes with very hot soapy water using a pressure washer with the tip removed and plumbed directly to the hose fitting, (low pressure). I was about to install the motors and started thinking "what if". So what have you done or what would you do in a similar situation.

After all that money to fix it why would you take a chance. I don't know a engine builder that would not want to change it. Been there before.

I wouldn't use them.

Don't use them. I spun a bearing once and thought I had it cleaned it out the same way. Rebuilt lasted about 20 hours. I cut the last one open. There is no way to clean them. For the price, it's not worth the chance.

It sucks to have to buy a new one but for piece of mind it's worth it. If it was just a refresh and everything was in good shape maybe, but if it hammered the crank i'd replace it and I'm a cheap f $&k

Unless it is a Dan Olsen cooler (they can be completely disassembled and ultrasonically cleaned), just toss you old coolers.

Ok, I guess I'll be ordering tomorrow. Thanks for the input. Anybody gone a line on the best cooler/price. I found EM at $385 with the PS cooler.
