crank choices

when you guys are building 572-598's
whats youre choice of brands of cranks and rods?
thanks

American

Personally I used a Callies Pro Magnum crank and Lunati Pro Mod rods in both my 540 and 565 builds. Wiseco pistons in the 565 and Mahle in the 540.

Callies Crank and rods. The American ones

Callies Magnum cranks are stout. Oliver rods are stout, but most H beams with good bolts are plenty for most marine applications. How much power and RPM are you shooting for?

Crower

the usual with wet exhaust around 750hp around 5600rpm
I have a set of bb3 cnc extra heads
my bowtie block is passed max bore and crower billet crank is cracked so starting to scout out options

How many hours are on the Crower crank ?

Everyone is going to have their own preference; either over the top or budget minded. There are many good cranks and rods out there based for application and cost. You can buy a Crower, Lunati, Callies, Scat, Eagle. If I were building a larger CID forced induction with higher rpms or for a heavier boat, I would spend the $ on the better parts. Building a NA package say up to 750 hp, you could use a Callies Dragonslayer and their H beam rods, the same goes with Scat or Eagle, being the parts are forged overseas, doesn't mean the material in inferior, nor would the machining procedures. I know for sure the Callies Mag crank or the Pro rods along with their I beam and H beam rods are excellent, bushings in rods are a harder material than other import rods, same goes for machining tolerances are held tighter, the Compstar is a good rod. I wouldn't in comparison, drop below the Dragonslayer, crankshaft for a marine application.
The cost of the crankshaft is offset from tolerances, counterweight design, you can buy a cheaper crank, that requires tungsten for balancing or just minor drilling. Sometimes the same forging is used for different stokes and the counterweights are high and require turning on the lath or excessive drilling.

Hope this helps.

That's a good bit of head for 5600 rpm. I would spin it up a little more. Shame you have wet exhaust I think with that head and cubic inch 850hp would be pretty easy.
