Plastic on both mine and never replaced them, only wear is seen on SS plate, and that's not much. The OP indicated a leak from the weep hole, which was telling me the inner seals were failing. The Hardin pump would not help in this area, or maybe I missed something. Either way I have rebuild a few of the pumps (bearing, seals) for about $60. Rebuilds have always been needed because mechanical fuel pump was leaking and no oil check was ever done. Haven't rebuilt Mercs latest pump.

That number is $370. Gen 7 $420. Let me know where I can save a $100?

This pump is a great idea, and the replaceable wear plates are great, but beware that the bearings in these are cheap and prone to failure. Mine lasted only a few seasons, and then water poured in, the pulley wobbled and burned up my belt. My OEM pump bearings lasted 15 years and were still good. Machine shop told me the bearings are low quality, cheap bearings.
