Aluminum Intake manifold + salt brackish water

I was wondering if anyone new how many years i can run brackish salty water in my Edelbrock air gap intakes before i start having leakage into the engine. I do rinse the engines on a garden hose after each use. This is the 4th season on the intakes. I want to catch it before there is a problem.
Thanks

I can't tell you in years but if you flush after every use should be fine. Mine is 5+ years. I run a screw in pencil zinc in mine too in the front port accessory hole.

Where can you get the pencil zinc from?

May I suggest Hard Anodizing next time.

Also, Edelbrock is just starting to introduce (again) Marine Aluminum intakes.

I just get them from a marine store in town.

Doesn't that block the water in the manifold passage a bit. I like the air gap manifolds . The open air space from the Air-Gap design separates the runners from the heat of the lifter-valley cover. So, the air/fuel mixture stays cooler all the way to the heads, which produces a denser charge for more power. Hard anodizing great idea. How much does that cost?

$100-$150 for a 4bbl intake usually.

Most towns/areas have a place that can hard coat anodize. Hit the yellow pages.

Watch out - since it makes your intake electrically dead, you'll have to externally ground any sensors in it. Coolant temp sensor I just ground it's external metal housing. Easy enough. Can do it with some wire, a spade termial, and a hose clamp....lol...if you want to do it fast.

That's how Merc big block aluminum intakes where. Same as marine Merlin intakes, Holley Marine, and etc, etc,

most of the time the passages are bad in 8-10 years

Is the entire manifold anodized or just the water passages. Right now I have the air gap manifolds with the endurashine finish. They have a chrome finish. I'll probably just replace them with the standard satin finish and coat them with an enamel clear coat
