EMI Thunder Exhaust On Stock 6.2s

EMI claims a 10% gain over factory on a 6.2 install. Has anybody installed a pair on twin 6.2s and what type of gain did you see?

I had a pair of stainless marine exhaust on a 03 Baja outlaw 29' with twin mx 6.2's and it did nothing...No gains at all. Don't waist your $$$. The 6.2's are under powered.

I have little confidence that any aftermarket exhaust for the small blocks, 6.2 included, would measurably improve the in water performance. Stock or GLM style manifolds with 4" thru hull are all you need in my opinion.

Thanks for the information

I installed EMI's on a sbc and weighed them vs the stock cast iron Merc exhaust I removed.

88lbs lighter.

Yup. Just 1 pair.

For some boats that's a lot. For some, it matters nothing.

As always performance exhaust are a requirement of very healthy motors! Not the other way around, making healthy power out of stock internally limited ones! Save your coin and don't believe the marketing hype!
P.S. Other than weight as SB mentioned.

Concur, weight savings may be of benefit. But 88 lbs is virtually impossible to notice in most boats unless it's a small aluminum row boat. Kick a passenger out and you've likely doubled the weight savings.:D

A member here (ExpensiveDate) put aluminum IMCO manifolds on his 292 with twin 6.2's. He noticed more midrange punch but no real gain on the top end. The weight savings was noticeable in quicker planing and better handling. The 292 is tail heavy to begin with, so any help in weight reduction back there is a benefit. I'm considering making the swap this winter.

I'm going through this right now. Emi thunders with the short SS risers. It's a 2004 Sunsation 32 mcob, 6.2. The emi's are 2" taller and I have corsa captains call so the down leg tube needs to be longer. Also made my own brackets and cooling hose configuration. I also like the lighter weight of the twin package.

Typically unless you're trying to solve the problem of reversion because of a fat cam, an aftermarket exhaust system is a waste, although looks, sound, and weight savings are enough to be of value to some folks.
