prop slip?

Why do things always happen at the worst times! Took wife's family on the boat and this is what it did...formula 272 twin 454s bravo one drives. 25p props...go to get ot up on plane and it seems like I have to push a little harder...thought it was because of more people than normal. While going I notice reduced speed under same rpm...enjoy the day than while coming home, revving up to plan port motor shoots up to 4500 whole starboard is at 3000. I pull it back and it finally gets going...gas happened 2 times now...no burning smell and prop seems tight.....it almost felt lime in was dragging something...any one have any ideas to check. I'm going to pull the prop tomorrow...what do I look for?

prop hub or drive coupler. prop hub is underwater-can't smell it. and any noise it makes u won't hear. drive coupler you will hear and smell. unless your drive was trimmed way up and you didn't see it.

Could be the cone clutch in the drive.

.the drive that is having the issue has about 100 hours on..I replace it last summer due to blown gears
