Rapid beeping?
I have been getting a rapid beeping (like 2 beeps per second) for what could be 5 seconds or up to 15 seconds this weekend. I don't think it is a merc warning. It just doesn't have the same tone as those. It's a 2004 292 with the 6.2s. Gafrig red line gauges. When I 1st heard it the fuel gauage was stuck at empty came into a no wake and the alarm stopped. This weekend I was running on Lake Michigan at 4000 rpm, nice flat water, no indicators on the gauges.... Rapid beeping started and the. Stopped after about 10 seconds. ????? I can't get to stick my head under the dash to see what is making the noise before it goes out.

Check your bilge fume detector. Mine beeps as well due to a bad sensor that I need to replace.

Guys I had something really strange - We have a sony radio and it would cut out along with a couple of Beeps -- temp, oil pressure, drive oil all good - Any idea what this could be?

Dave Thanks. |
My 2006 292 bilge fume detector is a loud high pitch steady tone. Never fails when I'm changing the starboard engine fuel filter to set it off with a couple drops of fuel.
I can't remember what the CO detector sounds like. Mine is located next to the sink. Could that be what you heard? |
After thinking about it my CO detector is made by Xintex and it does sound off rapid beeps that are pretty darn loud. Over time they will go out of calibration and give nuisance alarms. I've sent mine back to the factory twice for calibration. It's a service they provide and if I recall only $25 or so.

I would think there is a test button and I will give it a shot next time out. Thanks again. |
Yup, thats what it sounds like. Pop the breaker to shut it off and see if it goes away. If I remember correctly its under the dash.

We see also CO detectors go off if the battery falls under a certain voltage on some apps. I believe the CO detector is your problem as well if in fact you have one. .

After the trip to LOTO I figured it out. It was the depth gauge. Why its beeping over 60 feet of depth I have no idea but that was it.
