Good to know! What other manifold/TB combos out there might be up to the task that isn't a 4-barrel style? Looking for something with a standard style TB to force the air through.

Look into an Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT manifold. Single LS style throttle body on front makes for easy boost plumbing.

I built a N/A 540 this year and used the Holley HP series ECU in a custom multiport/distributor-less ignition. Awesome system and easy to use. Figures out fuel tables on its own wickedly fast.

I have a factory intake all set-up to run 7 lbs. boost Procharger. Approx. 700 hp. Would push my Checkmate 253 to 86 mph. Also have 502 MPI cam. Intake has larger 72 lb. injectors and modified fuel rail to be able to keep up with 7 lbs. Also have some other parts you may be interested in. Let me know.

Isn't the Holley HP kit the only self tune system that supports a boosted application?

I have not seen a anyone use a pro flo xt on a BBC, but it appears to be a mini ran type design that's been optimized. It would definitely make plumbing on a supercharged application easy, but also would be an attractive unit for those of us facing clearance issues. Never really cared for the traditional center mounted throttle body MPI units. Thanks for sharing!

Now I have heard some confusion as to camshafts and EFI. Being that I have an aftermarket camshaft, do I still need to swap it or is this something factory camshaft specific? Excuse my carb ignorance.

I am thinking right now of trying the Edelbrock intake/TB set-up with an upgraded pump/injectors and running an aftermarket system like the Holley HP.

I just bought a edelbrock pro flo xt intake manifold and sold my holley stuff as I have clearance issues in my boat. Not sure if I'm going to use the edelbrock TB or the larger Holley 105mm tapered unit. I have a new holley HP ECU, harness, fuel pump and injectors compliments of Haxby. Will report how this works. Also going distributorless.

I used one on a budget procharged 489 a couple years ago. It made 850hp with low profile Imco's (which have a smaller ID), and two 90's. I ran waste fire DIS with a 58x wheel.
