Thanks again BUP - I got a belt I think might work, but when I was down in the bilge making sure I got all the pieces of the broken belt out I noticed this pulley doesn't spin without some elbow grease- can y'all tell me if this should spin freely with ease !

Again I appreciate all that you guys do !!

Seawater pump. It should take some effort to spin it.

Thanks a ton- was a bit worried for a second, doesn't look easy to replace, I can barley spin it a very little at a time but it is hard to get a good grip on it !!

You have to worry about sea pumps that spin freely as the impeller blades then are mostly broken off and somewhere else in the cooling system.

Also Impellers sitting for long periods of time are worse than spinning all the time because they form a set from those sitting periods. (the blades stay folded over and do not spring back) (persay) it is wise to change your impeller on Bravo apps and Volvo apps at the beginning of your boating season. its a piece of mind kind of thing. mercruiser recommends every 2 years changing the impeller out whether you use your boat or not.

Also it is always wise to closely inspect your impeller housing for wear or scoring or broken areas. On Bravo apps I always change the plastic housing and impeller together regardless. The labor is the same cost just adds about 40 to 60 bucks more to final bill. Again its one of those piece of mind things plus I do not want to do work twice for the same amout of money as doing once. Impeller and housings is all about the correct tolerances to flow the cooling water properly and correct amount of volume. When the tolerances are off from wear, or running sand thru them then it will be off. (Texas huge low lakes levels makes for sucking up the bottom thru your cooling system) promise I see it everyday.

I got ya on the pump - I did make it a habit to pull the kill switch and turn the motor over every so often to help prevent the impeller to lay flat ! I'll change it out end of season for sure. Now I'm battling this belt route - seems like it stretched - lol

Do this, It's robbery for those belts through Merc. You'll pay 1/3rd the cost at Auto parts store vs. Merc.

I hear you screaming and you are correct about the price. I get dealer cost but the auto store is still cheaper plus up here not everyone has stock apps so you have to figure out what else will work and where to buy it.

My last post should have read, - DO NOT SPRING back for the impellers blades sitting forming a set position. I typed it wrong.

I went to Napa and the guy measured my old belt and got me this new one - it seems to be s bit shorter, not much but a tad - think he measured it at 105, got it for $41.00 ....

I'm having a heck of a time getting this belt on - I believe I have it routed right, have the adjustment pulley all the way down but for the life of me I can't pull it over it ! I've pulled as hard as I can and it's right there but can't get it over the lip- should it e this hard ? I've changer belt plenty of times on cars with a tensioner but this is a first for me. Starting to think its to short !!

I'm going to measure again to check.
