Intake ?

Can you go from a rectangle port head to a Weiand blower oval port intake manifold? If you can what is the best intake gasket to use?

I think its possible, ive heard of it done but have never done it myself.

I would think you need to use the oval port intake gasket.

But I could be wrong

Not sure what you're trying to gain, but why would you want to assemble using mis-matched parts? I've always used components that were designed to work together, then "gasket-matched" my aluminum intake manifolds, and aluminum exhaust as well. I've tried to work my cast iron heads to the gaskets as well, always looking to get the best "un-interrupted" flow through the breathing portion of the engine. I don't want to be a nay sayer, but I don't see how you're going to accomplish that with mis--matched parts...

Very hard to do because most oval port intakes will not cover the top of the rectangular port openings in the head. Can you say massive vacuum leak ?

However, the Dart Single Plane Oval Port intake usually has enough height to it's head mating surface to cover the rectangular port openings on head.

And yes, many have done this.

I would think you would want to use the square port gasket, provided there is enough surface to fully seal it as SB has mentioned.

I think one of the older Holley High Rise Dual Plane (oval port) Intakes would seal it too, but that was a long time ago, and i'm old, so that millimeter of a memory may be way wrong. Howevever, I have good memory on the Dart Single Plane Oval Port intake.

This is NOT my motor it's a friends motor. This is a Weiand blower intake.

See how things mate up and go for it.

Since you deflated my sails by not giving us correct info earlier.

I'll ask now: which Weiand Blower ? They made several different sizes.

Ah, forget it.

Just call Weiand. If they have no answer - they should - then do what was said above and take the intake and lay across a rect port intake gasket and see if it will seal.

I think it's 177 but I'm not sure this is not my motor.
