Remote trim switches
Does anyone have a boat that came with HP500's, carbed engines, that didn't have remote trim switches for the drives? Mine didn't! I have the parts to do the install, but I would like a schematic to show the wiring and the diodes! Thanks

I understand that it is simply a plug and play application. Since you have two drives you most likely will need two switches. I checked this out a number of months ago- thinking that I would want one for mine (single outdrive). However, I don't do that much trailing of the boat and it really wasn't something that I needed. It seems to me the cost was about 40.00/switch. You want to mount it close to the trim pump or you may have to splice wires.
Hope this helps safe boating 3pointstar |
Maybe I need to be a little clearer about what I am doing and what I have now. I have twin engines with the drive trim buttons on the port throttle. Two buttons, up and down. The up button runs both drives up and the down button runs both drives down. There aren't any remote buttons/switches to adjust the drives when they don't both come up/down at the same time. That happens sometimes when I trim up or down for water conditions or speed changes.

I bought the triple switch to control the drives together and tabs separately but you could wire it either way to control the drives separately.
The harness came with the diodes already pre wired and a schematic. I got everything @ Livorsi. They do sell the diode kit separately also if you wanted to use your own switches. Here`s a schematic http://www.livorsi.com/pdf2/DK.pdf Add on to my throttles.. sure is nice to have everything at my finger tips http://33outlaw.zenfolio.com/img/s2/...63826540-3.jpg |
So if I reading this problem right... He has 2 switches on his stick (like a baja for instance), but they do not control the drives separately. In all reality could just be one button.
Sound like a easy fix. Your getting feed back threw the wiring, and just need to install diode's in the line to stop the feed back. Use ICDEDPPL diagram and just cross out the single switch that controlls both. Add diodes(in the correct direction) where Livorsi shows and your good to go. |
Thanks guys! I have the diode kit from Livorsi and I have a Bennett trim tab switch. After talking to Kyle at Sunsation, I think I have it figured out. It looks like I have to find where the two wires from each of the trim pumps are joined together. Both "up" wires and "down" wires. That is how one switch on the throttles controls both drives. I need to identify the wires from each of the pumps and tie in my new made up harness with the diodes in it, prior to where the junction of both pumps is. Sounds simple, once you get over the fact that of working upside down through an access port in the gunnel. Almost sounds like a winter project.
