jet size
got 800 hp na motors with 1050 dominator carbs with no power valve wondering what jet size i should run to start testing motors so not to lean out motors made 810 at 6200 rpm
What was the A/F ratio on the dyno with your current set-up ? Same carb's right ?
If you know they made 810hp 6200 on the dyno, what were they dyno'd with????????
I would put a 6.5 power valve in the primary to help idle quality...reduce the current primary jet by 8-10, assuming you are running same carbs dyno'd with
the boat had 10.250 :1 comp i dropped it down to 9.8 it come with 82 88 jets no power valve but that seems really low to me i didn't dyno the boat just have the sheets any thoughts???
These motors love fuel have 588s 1150 dominators work my jesse big no power valve either air fuel mixture screw out 2 3/4 turns idle in gear at 500 out of gear 1000 have to check what we have in for jets we changed out the idle air bleeds smaller make it idle u have these in the boat yet ??hole different animal from dyno lol
82 and 88 without powervalves ?
Wholly schit !!!! Somethings f*d up. That doesn't sound right at all. It's like having jets in the 70's with Powervalves. Do not tune in the boat ! Yet ! Get the list# off the carb and someone will look up what the carb specs where when stock. |
Install wide band and set her right up....
If I had to start somewhere, I'd add a 4.5-6.5 PV to the primaries and increase the secondries to around 92's
Do the old dyno sheets have any AF's or EGT's??? |
Dominators love big jets.
As far as the power valve, and idle quality, I see no relation. The powervalve simply introduces more fuel, into the main well. Whether the power valve is open, or closed, it should not effect idle quality. If the powervalve is ruptured, than yes, it will pull fuel thru the diaphram. Think about it for a second. If a powervalve adds lets say 8 jet sizes, so you plug them and jet up 8 sizes. Would your engine idle any different if you went from 82 jets to 90 jets? The sole purpose for a powervalve is to provide extra enrichment, at high throttle opening/high load. |
Look for the Holley Number on the side of the carbs . Should be a 4 digit # with a dash digit at the end. Example 8082-3 . look up the original specs start there. Good guess would be 88 Primary Jets and 35 ish Air Bleeds ( The ones closest to the bowl vent tube ) , with 3.5PV , 92 Secondarys with 35 ish Airbleeds and 3.5PV . Idle Air bleeds around 50 ish ( Outer Ones ) Idle Screws at 1 1/2 Turns . Make sure Primary and Secondary Throttle Plates are open Equally. If they are open much more than .010 , the idle circuit loses a lot of signal and they tend to go lean . You can check your Idle by Putting your fingers over all 4 Idle Air Bleeds , if it speeds up its lean , if it slows down its rich
