Uh....NO. What engine are you removing and what engine are you planning on putting in? Are you talking about one of Ilmor's V10's or one of the LS engines? What boat do you have? Single or twin? We need to know a little more info. However, it is certainly not a plug and play by any means.

Didn't know somebody like yourself needed things spelled out exactly, but you can check back so that you are educated.

They use different wiring hookups for the gauges (10 pin or 14 pin harness for Merc). I don't see why you couldn't get a plug from each, along with a wiring schematic, and wire the 2 plugs together. However, it may be easier to just purchase the boat side harness from Illmor and just run new harnesses to the dash. Everything else should be pretty staight forward since both engines are pretty self contained. They both need battery + and-, fuel supply, power steering lines, etc. You will have to change the mounts as well, but that isn't a big deal either. Good luck, and post some pics.

Helluva lot easier and less costly to bump the HP in the Mercs I would think..

Looks like the way to go. It seems the nickel and diming aspect will be very expensive. |
Thanks for the information Eddie. If you had to guesstimate off the top of your head, what do you think the cost of something like would run??
|
Having never done it, I really would be hesitant to even offer a guess. Maybe someone that has done it can chime in with a better answer. It appears as though Brian did a swap so he may be a much better choice than me to answer your question. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

When I read Ilmor I thought he was talking Merc V-8 to Ilmor V-10 not a similar V-8 swap. The boat we did was GM 502 to Ilmor 625 V-10 with a Arneson conversion which required the stringers, wiring, fuel system, custom engine mounts, drive height and exhaust hole location changed......other than that it was plug and play.

Yeah. And then if you do the swap, you're gonna need a drive change more than likely as well. Those bravo1's will never hold up...
