Oil restrictor size hp500
What size are the oil restrictors in the hp500s? I've come to the conclusion that my oil foam coming from my breathers is due to the pan being sucked empty with these high volume pumps my builder talked me into. Ran it 6000 for a good couple mins and pulled the throttles back and sure enough I lost oil pressure for a couple seconds. So my question is do I put smaller restrictors in, or stock pumps back in with bigger pans?

I would not restrict any oil to the top end of the engines. The valvesprings rely on it greatly for cooling, esp an endurance engine. You really don't want to run a HV pump with a stock pan, as you are seeing.
I would go for the larger pans myself. You're getting up there in power level and RPM now. For what its worth, the HP500 came with standard oil pump, with a smaller steel oil pan, the 500 Bulldog engine, came with an aluminum oil pan with higher capacity and HV pump |
Wouldn't I still empty my pan, it'd just take a little longer?

So what do I do about the oil coming out of my breathers? Just put tanks on it?
|
Then again if it doesn't have a chance to suck air maybe that problem will also be remedied

I have used the m77hv pump on a few engines with the 8qt hp500 pan. Never had an issue sucking it dry. How far off the bottom is the pickup? And like black baja said, blow by is another issue.

if you are sucking the pan that far down, change the pump or increase the pan size, do not restrict the oil to the heads as will only kill the valve springs quicker...

Sounds to me like you have excessive blow by thus causing too much air blowing out of the breathers NOT too much oil under the valve covers.
