EFI intake
I am looking for an intake manifold that is going on a 598 , 10.2 deck.
planning for approx. 1000 HP I am looking for one with a monoblade throttle on the front instead of on top. The reason for this is I plan on installing a Procharger in a few years and don't like the looks of the hat on top. I know I can get a sheet metal one made but was looking for one that is cast. I saw a picture of one but can't find the maker. Thanks Steve |
What about a single plane with a Wilson elbow and throttle body

Also check out
http://www.6061.com They have about every type of badass sheet metal elbow you could think of. |
Sounds like an amazing setup! I researched doing the same in unleashed since I Loved my prochargers on the last boat.
Check out http://www.stevemorrisengines.com/, They have some parts you might like. This blue engine under the 700-1900hp From Lightning performance group has to be one of the sexiest I have seen in a while! http://www.kustomboltons.com/custom-...g-engines.html |
weather you like the look about them or not keep in mind on dyno test the 4 barrel type throttle body produced much more power than the forward round style...
|
there was a guy a few months back that had some orange ones for sale, Id not seen any like them before, they were a tunnel ram style, I think they were for a 10.2 deck, with large mono blade TB, cant find the post
|
Maybe you could go with the new Edelbrock or Profiler tunnel ram and get someone like Wilson or Hogan to make a front entry top.
|
I made over 1000rwhp @ 18psi on my turbo car with a victor Jr single plane Wilson elbow and Wilson 101mm throttlebody
|
we made in the neighborhood of 950hp w/ a 540 and a super heavily ported hp500 set up and vortech.enough to push a 38' formula fastech to 110mph from rolling 30mph,,in about 1mile.its the 1 w/ arnesons.

33outlaw - I saw those orange intakes and asked if he would sell one but he never got back to me.

Hogans intakes.. http://www.hogansracingmanifolds.com/index.aspx
|
Whats the advantages of single blade and multi blade throttle bodies? Is one better than another for certain applications?

Opening area vs throttle position.
A huge single throttle bladed throttle body can act like an on/off switch on some engine applications. Not only can it make some app's tough to drive, but on same app's can make computer progamming tougher to accomplish. Some people and some applications like to have more throttle control (ie: slower blade to throttle body opening area) ....thus the 4bbl throttle bodies with progressive rear throttle blades. Obviously, drive by wire can take a lot of the on/off action out also. |
Accufab makes some really nice 4150 and 4500 style throttle bodies that will look nice on that motor! I would not go with the 90 degree set-up, but I do have a Accufab 90 and Wilson elbow for sale!

if they can custom design one for your app and they offer KCS throttle body's to match up with their intakes and for the LS7 - they offer a very cool piece as well. http://performancedesign.com/product/xr |
As mentioned above, Edelbrock makes a very capable tunnel ram(Pro Flo Xt) intake that utilizes a LS throttle body. Would easily handle your goals HP wise. This is one I just picked up.

Borgie - do you have a link to it. I couldn't find it on their website. Also does it come in 10.2 deck height?

that is a nice looking intake.for some reason i thought you had oval port heads
Tinkerer- Missed the tall deck. I don't think they offer the pro FLO xt in a 10.2 configuration. Edelbrock discontinued the oval version of this because the two rear banks has distribution issues. The design of the rectangle port intake is different and wasn't affected. I spoke with several guys including Haxby about my setup and it was deemed a non issue. Try calling tech at edelbrock to see if they offer this in the 10.2 configuration. Sometimes they have as cast intakes for sale. I almost bought one to have Wilson port and finish before realizing that was a HUGE waste. Good luck! |
Borgie, Do you happen to have the height measurement of your Pro Flo manifold from the bottom flat surface to the top? Im looking for a similar setup but can only go so high. Thanks!
|
9.9-10"?

Total height is 10 ".
|
Perfect, thanks!

Thanks guys. My stock mpi 502 intake is 11 inches tall so this should fit no problem!
Haxby, I sent you a PM about EFI. Get back to me when you can. Thanks |

http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/...psfuy5b4pc.jpg As far as the port match from the rectangle to roval, how significant is the mismatch? Do you have a pic with the intake mocked up? |

Posted this here before but will say a friend of mine had a bunch of time testing manifoilds and ended up using this for the Amsoil Engine Masters on his Pontiac. IMO very sharp looking as well. .http://performancedesign.com/product/carbon-tr |
