Wellcraft scarab cv 7.4 v8 engine.

Hi there, first off this site is awsome!

Anyways back on topic. Recently i have purchased a wellcraft scarab cv with mercuriser 7.4 v8.
The age im guessing late 80s early 90s, on the leg it says 454 magnum.

Is this a common engine for parts, as i need a circurlation pump but was wondering if there is any aftermarket pumps out there, as the standard one weighs a ton!!!

Any other performace parts out there for this engine?

Thanks guys

The last two digits if the hull ID number will tell you what year the hull is. Got any pics?

Is it an alpha or bravo drive? If alpha probably a 330hp, bravo the 365hp full forged engine.

The water pump is cast iron and is nothing compared to the weight of the engine it's a non factor. The 365 is a good candidate for upgrades, the 330 not so much. Do a search it has been hashed out millions of times

Ha, ha, ha.

Wait until you take off an exhaust manifold.

Or better yet, A Bravo outdrive by your self with no hoist/lift.

Taking a bravo off by yourself isnt so bad, putting that bastard back on, now thats another story...

LOL. Your are 100% correct as dropping is easier than lifting and lining up.

I should have been more specific as I don't take off and leave off. LOL.

Ok sorry should of been a little more specific when giving my first post.

Right found out its 1990, bravo one 454 big block. After looking into it more.
The boat is 3 stories up on a dry rack and has been there for 18 years! The boat is located in spain, i only stumbled across it when looking for lower end unit for my searay! And of course being young all i ever wanted was a long big engined racing boat! I crawled my ass up very scary to say the least and instantly fell in love!!

Now the story behind it! The boat was impounded 18 years agos by the guardia civil in spain for smuggling over €1million worth of cocaine back in the 90s. (Hay day for smugglers over here) since then the boat was put onto a dry stack and then a shed was built around it a couple of years later. The port couldnt sell the boat or scrap due to it being property of a criminal organisation. But as the years went on paper work gets losts etc so i spoke to the port on the matter and they were happy to sell it for a fee for it being standing there for so long! (I think i got it for a bargain) But i have to pay for the barn/shed/warehouse more like to dismantled as there is no door where the boat is sat!
Ive been up ontop of it to try and get pictures but being soo dark and awkward i didnt fancy falling 3 stories on 20 year old stAckingg! Ive seen what parts i need for it, two water pumps, oils, filters, plugs, leads etc! After removing the water pumps, the belts etc the boat did turn over by hand! (Just about) so hopefully no internal work will need doingg!

Now the goodies!! Since reading up on this website ive learnd its good nice goodies bolted on! So the criminals were all that dull! It has stainless steel headers! With stainless steel exhaust! (ZIM i think the brand is?)
Its got an elderbrook i think, intake manifold, i dont know if the carb is standard or not but its a holly double barrel!
Also some sort of aftermarket prop! Also has an electronic fuel pump fitted!

All it needs by looks of things is normal boating maintence, the interiour puttin back together as its been ripped out! And a good clean! The warehouse is being taken down in january so work will commence then!

I will try and get some pictures up over the weekend as ive only got a mobile with me atm!

I think the new name is fittingg considering its history "Cocaine Dreams"

Cheers guys!

I took off my starboard side exhaust manifold this past fall -- it was a piece of cake -- I am by no means some body builder but it wasn't that bad

Cool story, hope it works out for you. Also, hopefully it was winterized and the block drained correctly.

Unfort it wasnt, i took the bottom pipes off and water come out!! Now it didnt taste or smell like seawater but the salt could of dried up, but could of just been flushed with fresh water which isnt as bad!
