Looking at these they claim a 10 lb will hold a 35-40' boat. Always had galv. flukes like the looks of these.Any recommendations?

Ayuh,.... With anchors, bottom composition, 'n anchor rode are more important than which anchor,....

MichiMike 11-23-2014 10:41 AM

Mud,sand............fluke. But this be an aluminum 10lb. A 10lb galvanized steel is advertised to hold half the size boat.

DIGGER boat anchors. Check em out @ Cabelas or the Digger web site. I have a "15" and it holds my 29 fountain in the winds and current of the Chesapeake and the cool thing is the way they release. I Guarantee that you will like them.

It probably will with enough chain and scope and not a lot of wind or current.

This is the best anchor on the market, not cheap but worth it, http://www.quickline.us/stainless-steel-anchors.aspx I have the smallest one and it holds my boat really well.

That 15# Digger looks nice and no chain needed. Don't want a real heavy anchor or a 500 dollar one.

fortress anchors are nice and lite and work well

weldcrane 11-27-2014 05:06 PM

fortress !!!!!

Sunrocket24 11-27-2014 06:23 PM

I have a fortress anchor that has always worked well for me. I like the anchor the OP has posted, looks like a fortress but it is aluminum. I wonder if it is the design or the weight that makes the fortress a great anchor?? I would rather have the anchor the OP posted since it is light weight.

I have a Fortress as well... I like that it's very light and it holds well, but I did find last time out that it did not hold my 46" boat and 20 others in strong current. In fact, it wouldn't even hold my boat and 5 other boats in that strong current. It must be because I didn't have any chain on it. :cartman:

I use a 2 foot spike works awsom but you have to be in shallow water so you can ush it into the bottom , means you have to get wet. But I'm a sand bar boater so it matters what n where you're anchoring good luck.

Looks like someone started with the Fortress design and prettied it up. Nice looking piece and should work well- how is the price?

gofastboater 11-27-2014 10:00 PM

I have a Fortress with 8' of stainless chain. It has NEVER let go. Sometimes I even have a hard time trying to pull it out. Looking to get a 2nd one for this coming season. Wouldn't even consider anything else.

I use the "small" box anchor. It regularly holds a 33' AT, 33' scarab AVS, a 283 checkmate and a 303 checkmate with no problem in a slight breeze. comes with storage bag and is collapsible. I use to have a big galvanized fluke anchor and it took up too much space and couldn't hold a candle to the holding power of the box. Wouldn't even consider anything else on the market after using one of these.
