NXT Transmission

I'm posting to see if anyone with a 700 NXT boat that is newer than 2011 has experienced a transmission failure? Either a complete lock up or a stuck cone clutch. I had more than my fair share this past season. What I have learned though was that Mercury made significant upgrades and improvements around 2010-2011 on them, such as a better heat treating process for the main shaft to stop the keepers from working into it and eventually letting go. Also improvements to the cone clutch to keep it from getting stuck and welded into the back side of the gear.
It seems that most of the problems you heard about where with the earlier boats in the 07-10 range, but I have not heard anything from guys with the newer boats.
I'm not going to spend another $ on NXT transmissions if the newer ones are still having problems.

Thanks

Rob

Hey rob have you looked into the bam fix? I realize a bit of coin... But so is fixing the NXT trannies.

Not sure on the handling aspect.

Hey Dave, yes looking real hard at it. If I can't get confident with the NXT that will be the route i go. That opens a whole nother can of worms with adding 6" extension boxes' and or moving engines.

my first thought would be that the ext boxes would be a bonus...
be nice to talk to cig or someone that has experimented with it.

I talked to Bud about it. He couldn't tell me for sure what it would do. Was more in favor of moving the motors.

fyi. i have a pair of 3 inch spacers/ ext boxes that migh help keep the engines from having to b moved all the way forward if it comes to it...
