I met a Finnish guy with a Fountain with 700:s this last summer during the Stockholm Powerboat weekend. Apparently he had changed his and had seen deterioration due to fatigue. He is using his boat really hard tough.

So what did you do?
I see you have rocker arms and a valve there.
Did you pull the head and do a valve job or just put rockers in or?
Any reason chose the comp rocker arms?
Is this a twin engine boat or single and if a twin did you replace both motors?
Did you find any other suspect arms when you pulled the rest off of the motor?
How about the code on the top of the crane rocker arm?
Thanks in advance

we pulled the heads on both motors , changed to comp black rockerarms , they have bigger bearings ,
The second engine we have play on the rockerarms as well.
this is comming from running the engines realy hard , not enough oil changes , dirt in the oil make play in the lifters , than it wil hammer the bearings out of the rocker arms , just pul the valve cover and make inspection to the rockerarms.
At least haf of the rockerarms had litle to major damage. Also changed the lifters .
changed valve and springs as wel , boat ran 6 mls faster after break in

I wonder if Crane went to a cheaper bearing/cutting cost etc when they were going/went out of biz? just a thought.
I also bought the Comps and wasent real impressed with them over the cranes, my race car stuff ive been running the Crower stainless ones.
my buddy ran a 2001 500efi till 640 hours before stuff came apart, and he abused it harder than a stolen race boat, prob had less than 10 hours under 4000rpm,lol
not 700's but my 500efi whipples above 800hp
Also knock on wood, my 2001 500efi CMI headers have over 400+ hours on them
0-1000 RPM =128.17 Hours
1001-2000 RPM = 16.50 Hours
2001-3000 RPM= 25.04 Hours
3001-4000 RPM = 37.92 Hours
4001-5000 RPM = 3.36 Hours
5001 RPM and up = 21.55 Minutes

I'm just finishing up replacing the rockers in my 700 sci. At about 200 hours I had metal in the filter. Pulled the valve covers and had 5 rockers with cracked races. I replaced all the rockers with the same gold crane rockers. I also replaced the lifters for piece of mind. Looking forward to warm weather and trying it all out.
