CMI headers leaking....HELP

Does anybody know a welder in the Houston area that can work on leaking CMI's? These are split top headers and have a pin hole leak on the inside.

Thanks

You probably ought to send them back to Custom Marine. I do not have any personal experience with them, but a lot of people seem to be happy with their repair services. I have heard them to be good fast and cost reasonable. Good luck.

After hunting around for someone competent, some other members here steered me to a company here in FL. I had mine fixed by Superior Fab & Welding in Punta Gorda FL. Nice people and "Chuck" did an excellent job. Their number is 941-639-2966

+1
IMO, it is not worth the risk to go local. There was a period where CMI lost the end of the string on QC and a period where the Mercury specifified product failed. If rigged correctly and used in fresh water, they should last I long time.

I allway think a bit more away!
When header get a hole,i ask me why! It is no problem to weld and make leakproof!
But i think when at one place comes a hole, the rest from headers can get a hole next time!
When material is bad at one place ,the rst is also very thin!?

I would not take the risk to get next time new hole and water in engine!
That only my meaning, but what you think about it?

I just sent mine back to CMI last week. I've read on here their cost is pretty reasonable (3-400) so that just seems like the easy answer.

I think I am going to send them either every year or every other year going forward.

Recommend send them to CMI. Price is very reasonable for testing, repairs, and they polish the headers like new too.
