TRS Values

What would be a realistic price selling TRS outdrives in very good condition - all freshwater use from day one very low hours ? In my area really not an app anyone is looking for hence I really do not know a realistic price here. .

I hear you. real story old man bought a twin motor boat brand new years ago with TRS drives on it. got health issues - did not use it while sick , died after x amount years and the wife just left it stored in their building for years.

I know a used car story as the little old lady only drove her car one way down hill once a year and now the car is for sale because she is too old to drive it anymore. Same deal here almost.

I had an old man 15 years ago (he was 72 years old at that time) buy a Checkmate off of me, then 8 years later, I sold it for him to turn around 2 years later and he buys a bigger Checkmate off of me. He was 82 at that time and is now 87 years old and still owns the damn Checkmate. He hasn't used the boat in 4.5 years. Only used it his first summer of buying it.

I have not seen any for under 1000 and the ones for a grand to 1200 were crusty hunk of junks. I see them high as 3500 but they still have them and will never ever get it. If I can not get at least 1200 they will go to metal scrap yard or in the trash.

BUP 01-06-2015 10:11 PM

Nothing cheaper than 1500 per one on FLEABAY and here is another steal listed below. Heck a rebuilt upper only $ 950 listed as well

Look at the rest of the pics of this and rusted up U-joints and sockets and crust for 2 K per 1..

I sold a set that were a nine in condition last summer for 1100 bucks.

motor 01-07-2015 04:46 AM

So , you would throw them away before you sold one for under $1200.00...Damn chief ...Someone else on here had said something similar not long ago .It's worth about 1000,unless you want to wait on that "special" buyer...Don't shoot me, that is my opinion

I had somebody tell me that they would rather throw their part off the roof before they would sell it to me for a short price still to this day I think that was very funny. Btw I did scrap a trs. It was 22$ .

Dumbest thing I ever read... You would not scrap it for less... I get what your saying but nobody would scrap a drive because someone offered 1195... And if you did then your an idiot..

BUP 01-07-2015 12:00 PM

So now I am idiot to ask 1200 firm and tell someone who low balls that figure "I would throw them in the trash because I compared them to what everyone else asking price tag was currently".

With all do respect this is the dumbest thing you ever read REALLY , I will have to look at possible all of your 5438 posts and now wonder if I can find something more stupid than this. To add to the fact of the matter that comment of yours should be on the top of the list too if in fact this really was in the history of your whole life . "The dumbest thing your ever read" You got to be kidding me right.

You always have to love that there is someone always just waiting to give whomever a hard time over the small things in life no matter what its about.

NOW I know why some of the sharpest marine people in the past have left this site for good because of people like this. Also BTW I am one of those sharp marine people FYI.

Pismo10 01-07-2015 12:37 PM

TRS went until 1993, great drive. Heavy tho..

Seriously get a grip, you posted that comment not me.... some guys thing TRS are gold they are not, they can be had anywhere from 500-1500 each... all depends on condition....

yea it's all my fault people leave OSO... all mine.... I am not here to start a pissing match, just saying TRS are not gold and people should sell for whatever market is, you may see them listed here for 2000.00 each but that's not the case all over... that's all I was saying....if you leave a site because you didn't like what you read, well... you may have bigger issues to address, it's just the internet.....

I once bought a gun to use up some ammo I had. Seems reasonable.

my friend got back to me,,he needs a right hand,,have a decent one.we're in MA.

Craney 01-07-2015 04:02 PM

Last year I bought a TRS in good shape for $250.00 and the guy Give me a set of 280 K-planes.

BUP 01-07-2015 04:06 PM

That works both ways. I do not take it kindly when someone behind their mighty keyboard calls out names like dumb and an idiot about anyone especially never ever knowing who they really are at either end.

Case in point what would your reaction be or how about anyones reaction ? I asked a simple question only in a post and non finger pointing at no one about not wanting to get low balled priced at on something that I do not need to fire sale and then get called an idiot and dumbest thing ever. WTF

I understand its going to bring the money what someone is only willing to pay for it. I am no hurry on this and just really asked TRS values. Just because someone sold theirs for 750 or 250 or even 3500 does not mean anything. After digging around IMO average condition and BELOW condition - range looks like 500 to 1000 bucks.

Thank you, enough said on both ends here.

airjunky 01-08-2015 11:47 PM

If yours still has good OEM stickers on it they bring a little more .eBay completed listings ,compiled over 6 months or more ,can be considered gospel on low traffic stuff ( Trs drives , 428 ford factory cast headers ) I would rather chain my Trs to my ankle and jump off a boat in January than sell it on our local craigslist . Going to offer fed ex shipping prob break that sucker up and hope for about 800on eBay with some nice gear facecs . Remembr a stainless prop for one of those brings 3-4 easy , and trim rams sell instantly for 200 .you will get your 1200 when its all said and done .if yours was velvet drive grab a cheap 5" tailstock combo and now your Rollin with another 500*1000 .those find a home .
