B&M blower identification

2 Attachment(s)
Note sure what blower I have but I think its a 174 on a Gen V BBC HP425 engine. Attached pictures show the markings.

One casting number is 8901185 and the model? number is P6240.

Any ideas what unit it is?

By the looks of the snout it might be. A pic of the whole blower sure would make it easier

I can tell you for certain it's either a 142, 144, 174 or177. I would suspect either a 174 or 177. The 250, 420 and mega blower don't have extremely long snouts. From the little bit of poking around on the net that I did it looks like the 174 & 177 both had the indentation on the bottom of the snout. I'm not certain about the 142 or 144 though. I've owned 2 B&M 250 blowers. They really start changing in size and shape when you get to the 250 and bigger. Pictures of the whole blower would definitely help make it easIer to identify. My suggestion is to either post up some better pics, call The Blower Shop and ask if they can i.d. it for you by the numbers or pics of it..... or both. Best of luck to you! Mark

It is not anything like my 177.

looks like a 174 B&M The 177 was made by weiand. B&Ms had 4 bolts that held the blower to the manifold, weiand 177s had studs with nuts, similar to how a 871 would bolt to a manifold. Plus the weiand 177 didnt come teflon stripped. The B&M 174 did.
