I run limited travel Morels in my raceboat. You have to make sure there is good lifter to bore clearance as they might run a touch big

I've run these in 3 engines and I've never had an issue with them.

I hear good, then last week I heard a few people had issues, but thats always subject to discussion, all depends why it failed....I plan to buy Morel, but talking to a drag car buddy last night he was saying Isky is making great lifters....not sure what I am gonna do yet..

why are you asking?have a problem w/ them.

I 've run them in a dozen motors and haven't had any issues, couple engines approaching 150hrs.but we run conservative lifts, usually less than .680".

KAAMASCARAB 01-18-2015 05:36 PM

I think morel supplies a lot of brands. I have 2 seasons of racing on mine with .640 lift at 6100rpm. make sure clearances are good, especially w/Dart block

turbo2256b 01-19-2015 08:40 AM

Havent talked to them yet but was woundering why (thinking there higher rpm ones) lighter weight oil than I RUN IS RECOMENDED

Those are BBC parts, so no, I've never had a problem with them. However, a few years ago after I got done assembling my current 406 SBC, I got a call from the engine builder who only did the machine work and got me the parts, and was told there was a recall on the ones I had installed. Something about the axles press fit not staying put. When I installed the replacement set, of the 16 lifters, 3 had axles that where noticeably offset. Less than 10 hours before the swap. I'm not sure of the actual part numbers, but was told the new set was the race version.

The information in post#17 being referenced does not pertain to the OP’s inquiry regarding the 4603 or 5045 lifter series.

Post #17 relates to the 5372/5374 SBC/BBC OEM “street replacement” lifter design of several years ago. This is a lifter that we have never used or recommended in marine applications.

Morel uses a wire C clip design in lieu of a swedged axle design in any of its performance lifters.
