454 cam
 

Whats a good cam for a 454 chev 340 HP Bluewater inboard but putting in a I/O want's to improve the performance has flat tops and peanut ports now.It is a gen 5 flat tappet and want's to stick with this set up he is working on a budget He realizes he must ,or should change heads
Looking for heads some 088's I guess .Stock lower end . I realize this is not the best candidate to work with but it is all my buddy has for now and it's running.He want's a little chop to it,Just asking REALIZE this is not the best engine for build.Thanks JOHN

john,i used to give my opinion on cam selection but i don,t anymore.i will say that if a flat tappet cam is going to be used i recommend crower cam saver lifters.i get them from summit.

NP Mike.Just wanted to get some input but I understand everybody want's to change everything,Never ever get the original questioned about a cam answered .LOL
