Unlimited jd 01-21-2015 08:20 PM

Msd high vibration, or I just got a complete Daytona sensors ignition. A lot of benefits with this setup

The Gucci boat that was for sale here

Black Baja 01-22-2015 07:34 AM

A factory ford coil (5.8L truck) will out perform a msd coil and last 10 times longer for half the money. Msd= junk

ezstriper 01-22-2015 12:44 PM

coils have become very specific in a lot of ignitions now and you have to match the coil to what you are running...most all MSD boxes call for a specific coil for each box...might me a sales deal who knows but ??? but lots don't play well with certain style ignitions

There is no need for anything MSD on your boat. Not only will it not be as reliable as your Thunderbolt system, you are not going to see any performance gains either. If it were me, I would stick to a good stock coil and be done with it.

weldcrane 01-22-2015 02:14 PM

I'm taking all the Msd stuff off got Mallory Dist just need a good coil to go with.Mallory doesn't make an epoxy filled coil which I hear is takes vibration better than oil filled

Black Baja 01-22-2015 03:19 PM

Oil filled is ok just make sure it sits upright.
