interested in 2014 scarab 30 tournament cc - are they any good?
 

my brother is considering a new 30'tournament cc- anyone have any knowlage on the build quality ??
he is trying to stay in a price point but still have something decent- boat wouldn't see huge use and mainly for cruising,not fishing
its got a couple 300 yamahas on it . needs to stay around 30'

If I were him, I'd go for a Nor-tech or Cig center console, even if he had to wait a couple of years to bring it closer to his price point. Someone else will have to weigh in on build quality though - I have no knowledge on that.

Some would say I'm biased as a Scarab owner from when they were truly go-fast boats, but I still can't get my mind around a Scarab being anything but a traditional go-fast. They're building center consoles and SKI BOATS nowadays. To me, that would be like seeing a Cigarette Top Gun ski boat 10 years down the road. Just doesn't make sense.

Whats the asking price on the scarab?

he is trying to stay under 145k all said and done- that's real close on this with trailer , leftover 2014.
would love one of the high end boats but not many used ones and just to much new for him and the amount he will use it, plus seems not as many models in 29-30' range.

Scarab has manufactured the center console Scarab sport for many years. The Scarab jet boats are not manufactured by Wellcraft. Do not confuse those two.. Also consider fountain or Deep impact...

I just took one of the motors off my 2015 33 renegade and made it a twin boat. We're not too far away on price, it's listed in the classifieds.

he is just dead set on not exceeding 150k incuding tax so that doesn't make it that close, especialy without trailer. great lookin boat though- good luck with sale and your new boat purchase.

Wellcraft is discontinuing the Scarab Line. Do a search on this. That said it is a great hull but he should bargain hard.

That's interesting since the local dealer says they are debuting a new 35' Scarab with trips at Miami with a new sportier/party type layout.
