What is the right carb

Hey guys I have a 1998 27 World Class Warlock with a new 509 BBC with between 575hp and 600 hp and I need a carb to complete. I do not know brand or cfm's any help would be nice.
Thanks AJ

950-1000 cfm 4150 would be my choice. 850 will work if you have it but if you're buying new look into the quick fuels

Thanks jd for the reply i sure like that black look but if I am looking at it right they skip from 850 to 1050 do I run a 1050 and get it jetted down?

No, actual flow won't be 1050. Call and ask them what the actual cfm is on it. A big carb will cause the air speed to be slower and you may actually have to go up in jet. It varies on application but based on basic carb principles that's the what may happen. Sb on the board here can explain much better, carbs and airflow are his specialty.

I don't know if one of these will help you, http://speedmaster79.com/tools/carburetor-size-needed/ http://www.wallaceracing.com/intakecfm.php

Many years ago, big carbs with low velocity thru the carb had trouble metering fuel. When you bolted a 1987 dominator on a 250HP 454 truck engine, it was a turd. It is now 2015, and the modern carb companies have great products that can meter fuel very well. Mercury used a 800cfm on a 420HP 454 that turned 5200RPM, a 830 CFM on a 465HP 502 that turned 5200RPM.

My general opinion, a 600HP big block, is deserving of a 950-1050 4150 style carb. A little more HP, and you'll start seeing gains from a dominator.

a 800-850 double pumper...no dominator...will do no good at the rpm you will be turning

If one was going with a fast or holley EFI, what size throttle body would be used ?

Nickerson Performance . Flows 978cfm .

Too much flow. They need to put some restrictions back in it for more power. Maybe put the choke horns back on and the engine will wake up.
