ARP says do not use on any Roller cam so not sure why Clay would recommend it, either way I`ll just go back to pumping gas.

I'm with you on that - wondering if I should just stay with an electric pump. I would be the guy who has a pushrod that mushrooms out. |

I guess Clay Smith is in the business of selling fuel pumps, not cam shafts, so he is only going to know what works on his end of the push rod.

From what I see, after looking thru catalogs here from Howards, Comp, Crane, Crower, moroso, and arp, its seems you have 3 styles of pushrods.
One with a bronze tip, to be used with steel camshafts. One with a steel tip, to be used with cast iron camshafts. A new lightweight blended carbon polymer, advertised to be used with either a cast iron, or steel camshaft. Unless theres something else out there, thats all I see available from those sources. Has anyone used one of the lightweight carbon polymer rods ? |
I am "tempted" too......but??????

I'm suprised no one has brought up type of oil yet.
Roller Tappet people, for the most part, feel safe not having to deal with 'special oil' for flat tappets and etc, but can we consider the fuel pump pushrod in the same league ? Obviously, less spring pressure, however........ This has been a good round table discussion, therefore I thought I would throw something else out there in case.... |
Good Point! OIL! Brad Penn! Ya...Im a Dealer.....but also have some GREAT results I could share.
