Camshaft sprocket question

Do I still use the cam retainer with the Torrington bearing? I can't in my mind see how that works because it appears the retainer and bearing would try to occupy the same space?

That said if you don't use the retainer I don't see what is holding it in unless the cam is cut ever so slightly to push the cam rearward?

Bolt on the GM Gen VI cam retainer (PN 10168501) using two 1/4-20 x 1/2 buttonhead T27 Torx fasteners (PN 14093637).

*torx bolts should be taken to 105*In*lbs

Retainer holds the cam in the tunnel. The Torrington is the buffer from the gear to the block/retainer surface.
