I dont understand all this drilling!

22 bucks. You get 1/2 NPT, not 3/8, not 1/4.

You can buy them here with the filter for 79.99

http://www.cpperformance.com/p-13141...d-bracket.aspx

or here, for 44 bucks for the filter and the filter head. Same parts. Lower price.

As I've said, I have used these on my 800hp supercharged carbed engines, with zero issues.

Wally yes that is what I am talking about as if you are not spot on with drilling and going past it then the hole will not get any bigger. Most people will use a hand drill and stop on the one side just so far in . Just saying.

Anyone why not just use a fitting barb of 1/4 NPT / 3/8 barb. 1/4 NPT the center opening is still bigger than the 3/8 barb side of the hole. This will prevent you from not having to drill and tap new threads. Just drill inward past the treads as big as you can - 3/8's or a tad bigger same idea with a whole lot less work.

Mike agree and the Sierra one is a nice piece for retail of 47 or 48 bucks to. . Off course my price is less.

Joe that is cheap - I said before just make sure underside of that aluminum filter mount is not Alum oxide like crazy. You can use a inspection mirror with the filter off for visual inspection.

just asking is the screw on portion for the fuel filter - is that hole just as big as others or is it smaller - looks somewhat smaller in the pic you posted- last fleetfilter link post # 51

It probably looks small, because its a 1'' thread for the filter, I believe merc/sierra filters are 11/16??

Here's an interesting turn of events.....last night i went and found the other Fuel/Water mount.....i looked at the bore and its been opened up! And not just to 3/8"...this looks like it was drilled before the 1/4" taps were run through the holes! I can almost fit a 7/16" drill bit in there but its tight....but its way bigger then a 3/8" drill bit!! Strange! But the thing it it still has the 1/4" fpt threads......and they appear to be the original ones since to drill the main bores would have gouged the threads for sure! Could this be factory??
For reference the x-acto handle is 5/15" in size and it wasn't drilled straight through either...it was done on an angle so the bores don't perfectly match up...part number on this one is 89876

After this thread I was concerned with using my factory (p/n 89876A3) filter head on my new build so I did some research. According to bam, Mercury used those heads on up through the 500EFI and into the 600SC. Food for thought.

Joe, do you know of a part number that crosses with the 33405, but has a shorter canister? My filter mount on my engine doesn't have room for that 7 inch filter, and I would prefer not to have to relocate it. I found another part number that I think will work (33244) that has the same thread and similar OD, GPH, and slightly higher micron rating (19). However, it is simply described as a "fuel filter" and not a "fuel/water separator filter". Does this make a difference?
