Has anyone used the hammer alum heads? If so to what results?
Does anyone know anything about the head castings?

mike tkach 04-29-2015 11:07 PM

i wonder who,s castings they use,for that kind of money i would not expect much.

hammerdown500 04-30-2015 12:07 AM

thats my thoughts but i thought i'd check to see if anyone could clarify. and prove or disprove

I believe it was determined that the 502 blocks are imports, so one would assume that the heads are imports as well. If that's the case, I wouldn't expect all that much, just like the other imported heads.

Be sure and let us know if you find any other info during your search. I'm curious how they flow as well. It would be nice to have the extra time and bucks to give some of theses deals a shot to see if their worthy. I noticed there's a place that sells a lot of aluminum heads online etc out in Fresno CA and AL. Wonder if their the same? I would imagine their from overseas "China" like pro comp etc. I'm not sure how the quality of aluminum is from over seas compared to that of in the US or is it all the same? In regards to bolt holes etc lining up even dart has had issues with that from time to time.

I tried pro comps 5 years back. They were assembled by white performance. Make good power but the castings were weak and would.strip.threads real easy.
I have a set of proheader heads that white performance built.for me and they are awesome. But with 330cc runners I want to go back to a smaller runner 310.or.so.for.better velocity and to help bottom end hole shot for a 509. . Will.probably go with a set of brodix from eddie. But I am just looking everything over. And exploring all options.

And thanks eddie for your input. Haven't been able to find out much

hammerdown500 05-07-2015 02:13 PM

Nothing wrong with Edelbrock "castings", in fact they are high quality, made in the USA and are offered by Merc and GM hi perf; companies that actually have to honor warranties.

hammerdown500 05-07-2015 04:22 PM

Didn't say they were edelbrock castings
Just.that they r on part with them.for performance and they say fit and finish.
And mkhammer uses good internals

We sell Dart, World and genuine Chevy blocks, We do NOT sell Chinese. Our cylinder heads are PMB strike force castings that we install Manley Extreme duty exhaust valves and severe duty intakes, set up for Hyd. roller or flat tappet with 10 deg locks, ARP rocker studs and Dart adjustable guide plates., These heads are for the average boater looking for extra HP gains on a budget, and have proven to be reliable with very good HP results over the years for bolt on performance , We always recommend Cometic head gaskets and ARP fasteners with any Marine cylinder head combo . We sell all Dart and World products and always recommend the best first.

Regarding the Edelbrocks, I just pulled my heads to have them flow tested for an optimum cam, and he checked the valve seat radius and found them to be .006 - .009 out of round. Is this pretty normal for out of the box heads?
