Here is another vote for outboards being MUCH MUCH less expensive to own!
|
My outboard is way more expensive to run than an I/O....
I'm on the water burning gas and oil at an alarming rate while the I/Os are on the trailer waiting to get repaired. :lolhit: http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4xmaxiq3.jpg Now "which one costs more to own/maintain?", completely different ballgame. |
I remember water skiing on lakes in Australia with an Australian made Bullet 17' powered by a Merc 2.4 Bridgeport. 90 MPH boat. Both my brothers had big block v drives in ski boats. Great noise but could never catch me and regularly had problems.
One day out, one of the inboards had a fuel pump problem and one of the crew was trying to solve the issue while out on the water. He burnt his forearm quite badly on the over transom pipes. My other brother turned up to tow them back to the ramp and nuked his engine after a cooling system blockage. I towed them BOTH back to the ramp in single file behind my egg beater! The burnt forearm guy recovered, my two brothers both spent plenty on repairs but the outboard just kept on running........ RR |
