Need Hard to find TRS PART or Specs
I have a problem. On my boat I have TRS drives with Merc Transmisions. There is a "pilot" Bearing that goes in the cranc of the engine and keeps the drive shaft on the trany from moving that is missing in my set up. I have looked for one and no one seems to have them. Does anyone have one or the specs so that I can have my machinist make it? I could pull both motors and take measurements from the other but that is a HUGE pain in the butt that I would like to avoid.

Doller has it listed in their parts website. NLA?

Gary NLA= No Longer Available :(:(
|
My "NLA" was a question. They still list a price on their site. Have you called them? They also have good connections on rare parts.
Gary |
Garry I have not called them no. HOWEVER I will :D:D I tried local places and they all said NLA to me. I will give them a call however. I am sure some one must have one sitting on a self somer were...... I hope :D:D

If you strike out with Doller, let me know. I have a couple local sources with a lot of old parts laying around. It just takes a couple weeks for them to find it.

I have tried Dollar, Sea Way Marine, Rigs, Supriem, and Jay Catelone. All say no go.
The part Number I have is 23-71647 does that match up to what you have? Jon |
Jon, how hoard would it be just to have a machine shop make one for ya?
|
These guys don't need no stinkin' part numbers. They just have a lot of boxes of old stuff. I'll call them and see if they pulled any merc trannys in thev last couple years. They're getting REALLY rare though. If they dont have the bearing, I'll see if they have a tranny to measure the input shaft diameter. A machine shop should be able to bore or sleeve a standard GM pilot bearing to the correct ID pretty cheap.

Wally if I had the dimensions it would be a snap unfortunatly that would require me to not only remove the engine but take precise measurements that I am not 100% sure I can pull off. :(:( There has to be a few of these floating around some were!!!!
I also tried Bam, and a couple others. Bam got me some hot leads that I am now chasing. |
I found them :D:D
Bams super computer spit out a dealer in Marryland that had two of them. I got both :D:D Jon |
Cool, when you get them take measurements and post them incase anyone needs some made in the future :D If you could please! :D
|
I will try and remember to do that. I got the two that they had. I only need one but got the second JUST IN CASE!!!! :D:D

98itrwhite, I made some 10 years ago for mine. I made them out of bronze bar stock. thet were half inch thick, 1.700 diameter, center bore (input shaft) .670 . If I remember right I beveled the center bore to take of the sharp edge. I think I still have two of them. I finally went hubers because I kept snapping the inputs and output shafts. Plus the dampner plates are next to impossible to find. I've still got one of those.

Another option may be to contact the guy in Washington that does extensive Merc Trans rebuilds.
http://www.kcmarinetr.com/index.html Worth a shot! |

|
kc's website say they still have them. i will give them a call thanks everyone for the input:drink:
