What type are these switchable exhaust tips?
 

Hi everyone. Just picked up a new (to us) boat and it has these tips but they aren't hooked up to anything and I would really like to make them operational. Anybody have any idea what brand they might be so I can track down whatever parts are needed to make them work again?

Thanks Griff. They really work well when you close them manually and thought about maybe seeing if I could restore them to full functioning.

I have also never seen one like that. But if all else fails, do what mercury used. Small air pump/ compressor and spring loaded air cylinders. You will prob have to custom fab something. Or another thing (might look like 4 dudes on 1 bar stool) is to just use a manual choke cable. Push/pull your way to quietness

They were made by Kaama. They were the first switchable exhaust tip ever made. They used a little 12 volt air horn compressor to operate them.

One of the Merc Silent choice type compressors would run them. You can buy replacement air actuators online for pretty cheap, and you can probably make your own compressor from one of the cheap Horrible Freight air compressors and a popoff valve and a few plumbing parts. Look around in the Swap Shop too, and you might find a good price on a used air pump.

Thanks guys. I found an old Popular Mechanics magazine online with so Gaama tips in there. Sure looks like them. Looked up the background of Gaama and it's founder John Connor. Interesting guy for sure with lots of offshore history.
