Sounds like the clutch pack is a little tighter in the one that's spinning. You talking about out of the water? Probably won't be an issue when in the water. Did he just rebuild these?

Typically that would be a sign of warped clutch/clutches. . Is it spinning like really fast, or just a slow turn? I wouldnt be too concerned if its just a little slow turn. But, if its spinning enough to actually move the boat when in the water, i'd say you prob have a issue with clutches or maybe a sealing ring issue. I'd make sure the trans shift cable is properly adjusted as well. One of the things I always do in my boat out of habit, especially before I get on plane, is double check my shifters and give them a firm push against the stops to make sure they are fully engaged in forward. They don't like not being fully engaged.
I know you have some healthy engines in the boat now making a good amount of power. I don't know how far Mel gets into upgrading them, but I think you are probably at the point where a simple addition of an extra clutch may not be enough. Stepping up to a Bam cyborg might not be bad idea. A good way to get warped clutches if everything is setup right, is simply overpowering them, slippage=heat, heat = warped clutches. |
I had the same issue last year on my 10meter.the clutches were waraped/overheated.it did the same thing as yours.i rebuilt both trans this winter.took care of problem.

Seems fast. But does not do anything that I notice in the water. Definitely not moving the boat or anything of that sort.
