Deutsch or Weatherpack or Metripack?

Merc uses weatherpack and mertipack, livorsi uses deutsch.

Caterpillar uses Deutsch, so that says something.

Anyone have preferences here?

I dont think you can go wrong with any of them as long as they are put together properly. I have never played with the deutsch connectors but I have tested a 3 pin weather-pack completely submerged underwater for over 2yrs on one of our pumps we make here at work.....the motor failed before any liquid got inside the connector!....still looked as good as the day i put it all together.

Deutsch all the way! I build prototype machines, and have tried them all. There is no contest in my opinion. The crimps are stronger than the wire, I have never had a bad connection.

I use all three at work also. Deutsch prolly the best. nice thing about them is you really dont need a special tool to crimp them or remove them from the plug. tho they do crimp better with the tool. a 2 pin all the way up to 12 pin you can take apart with a small screw driver. once you get to the big round 32 pin ones you need a special tool to get them out tho. weather pack is prolly the second easiest to take apart the one round tool will do them all. some of the metri pak ones are a real pain to remove the pins. and you need a special crimper to assemble them to. i used metri pak rewiring my entire boat but thats onlys because my msd 6ls box uses metri pak. next time i will deff use deutsh.

I went Deutsch, AT series. Turns out we have the crimp tools ($$$$) at work for solid pins and I had the tool for stamped pins. Can't wait, it's gonna be good stuff.

Where is a good place to purchase the Deutsch and tool? Didn't look like the factory site is for sales.

Does Molex have a line of sealed connectors? I'm only familiar with their stuff in computers, a clean environment.

I got out one of our big kits at work today and played with it a little, DT connections with solid pins. That's some high quality stuff, and the crimps are perfect. I definitely geeked a little when I saw how it all came together.

I will run into Molex this Sept 2015 inperson. they supply Merc with a lot of harnesses and connectors in the last 10 years. I know I could buy off of them but I would have to dig their catalog out to see actually what I could match up. Sorry for not able to pin point you in the right direction.

I got allot of my stuff from waytekwire.com only thing most of there stuff has minimum order quantity's which gets pricy. But then you get to get a plastic organizer shelf and your stocked like a pro. Then your buddies find out and they come take a piece here and piece there out you inventory lol. I've never messed with molex. Looks like they got some pretty cool stuff tho. One thing I noticed building my harness it helps to stay with one or two styles of connectors that use the same male and female pins.

Damn those things are slick! Just assembled my first and this beats the hell out of solder and shrink wrap!
