Exhaust Bolt holes blind?
Are all of the exhaust bolt holes on a set of 088 heads blind?
I just had to pull my headers off and on the even bank one of the bolt holes for the number 2 cylinder water poured out of the bolt hole...... |
Never mind - I looked up in there and I know the answer.......

Some Chrysler exhaust bolt holes go into the coolant.

Rot ?

^^^^^^^^^^ that would be my guess.

Details......
Valve guides weren't cut down enough to clear the top of the seals that we used. Pulled motor, removed headers and water came out of one of the holes...... I know that head has been off before I owned it, and I'm wondering if they had to drill out a bolt and went too far..... No idea really, but I'll pull them back off, fix it Monday, and hopefully have it back in the water by July 4th - I just keep pushing back which holiday I'm targeting - I started with a target date of Memorial Day, now it's July 4th..... |
If there is room for a standard 3/8" - 9/16 head nut instead of a bolt, I would just put a stud in there with some sealant on it. I put two studs on each head for my manifolds / headers. Makes life much easier when installing the manifolds - lines right up for you.
