I have more then that in parts alone.... How can that be?
I am not trying to start a mess just curious when the guy on FB was arguing the quality and price and has yet to use the product, I know what I spent with quality parts and it exceeds that as built price...and I got some good pricing

I'll add this. To be a Hardin Marine dealer you only have to spend $2000 per year. There prices drop drastically with dealer pricing also. It's easy to drop $2000 in marine parts in a year so why not?

Seems reviews are mixed but you`d think they would have to be somewhat legit if Summit carries em.

Different parts manufacturers have different levels of "buy in". The more you spend to become a dealer the better your pricing will be. Here is an example of mark-up. A Brodix Aluminum BBC block on Summit retails around $5,500 my buddy has been a Brodix dealer for a long time and is Master WD with Brodix his cost on the same block Summit sells for $5,500 is $3,600. When he and I were pretty tight he gave me his cost on everything. $800 Scat crank was $600. $900 Prosystems carb was $625. The Jesel lifters I bought for my new build retailed just under $1700 I payed $1253. When you start saving $300 here $400 there it adds up quick. There are also situations where builders do a large purchase and they'll buy 10 or 20 blocks at a time. This really drives the price down. Average WD cost on a Dart block is $1700 and some change. Buy 10-20 and the price drops more.
I'll add this. To be a Hardin Marine dealer you only have to spend $2000 per year. There prices drop drastically with dealer pricing also. It's easy to drop $2000 in marine parts in a year so why not?

I am not saying it's all junk if any at all, I just don't see a marine 800 plus hp engine being a good build for 12,000.00 that's all...

I would agree. Parts are by far the most expensive. Like in our industry, could be 75% or more cost of the job when compared to labor and other services. If you can drive that cost down, it makes a huge impact. But, I cannot see trimming that much fat. At a minimum, that's half what they should cost.

A lot of 'good name' parts stores carry a lot of junk now too.....'trusted brand' labels don't mean a whole lot anymore.
Country is going thru the schitter.
I hope I am alive when it rebounds.
