There are two sides to the coin.... I am an engineer and always look at the cost to manufacture. How much$$$ are JE, Callies and others really making?

Instead of criticizing Blue Print keep in mind this is an American manufacturer that has American foundry and American CNC. I applaud these guys, they are AMERICAN, they are small and they are almost 20 years old. If you are doing a rebuild on a 1990 boat than these guys might be an option. If you are building a 2015 Uberboat then probably not.

At the end of the day is it really that hard to make 800HP out of a 632? I mean c'mon. The price point for that horsepower and reliability is a good value.

Buy American!

Even if the engine is great, I would concerned about the torque from 632ci in the 3000-4000 RPM range.....drive buster.

Summit has been very good. I've been using them since high school, which maybe before some of you where born. I buy well into the thousands there each and every year from them.

My point was not to single them out.

It was more so that we are not safe from junk from anywhere, as many/most parts suppliers + retail stores have lost touch with parts themselves. The people through ought the whole organization of part stores / chains / distributors are not people that actually use/install parts....cause if they did, they wouldn't let such crap infiltrate their organization.

NAPA has a bunch of junk now, so does Federated, Oreilly's, and etc, etc.

Sure, they could argue that the customer's demand the lower price stuff, but if you are in the biz, you'll see that many junk parts are still being charged out at premium prices.

Shops like myself are buying more and more OEM parts. Take longer to get (1 parts run a day..or even have to wait for next day even if they have in stock ) but.....the aftermarket is slowly (more quickly last 5 yrs or so) shooting themselves in the foot.

=======================

As far as people thinking I'm picking on Blueprint, I'm not yet as I don't know what pieces they are actually using in that motor.

I will forever be disgusted with ProComp,,,,,,even if they become the ultimate parts seller / manufacturer...they have committed fraud against American companies and customers and continue to do so.

They are a cancer and need to be removed.

That statement is misleading in the sense that 800hp and 700-800ft/lbs torque is a ton of power for inferior parts to handle.

But, yeh, true that it is relatively easy to spec airflow / fuel parts for 632 cubes to make 800hp.

Two totally different things,

edit: meant to omit psart I just deleted. LOL.

Nonsense!

Summit sells all the Chinese garbage just like any other large retailer.

I live close to summit and have been a customer since they were a small local speed shop.
They are still a great retailer, but make no mistake, they sell junk too.
