Tube pulling duty - best to prop down?

Thought I would get some opinions - my boat occasionally gets put on tube pulling duty to keep the kiddos happy. Currently I am swinging a 23 Mirage Plus with a Bravo 1.36 drive, which comes close to a 25 pitch behind a 1.5 drive. My torque peak starts at 3250 RPM (604 ft lbs) and remains pretty close to that up to 4750 RPM (605 ft lbs). When I'm pulling the tube I'm slogging along at around 2600-2700 RPM max. Much faster than that and boat gets going too fast and tube turns into a flying saucer. :) Thinking that it may be wise to throw a 21 Mirage on there to keep from lugging the engine too much. Agree? Disagree? Don't care?

22 bravo1 4 blade

I actually run a hydromotive 5 blade 25 for wake-boarding to keep the prop from slipping in the turns. Depending on load it puts me at 1,800 to 2,000 rpm for 18 mph on plane with the k-planes wayyy down. Tubing will run 2,500-3,000. I've never worried about the low rpm load. Otherwise my normal props are a labbed 29 mirage plus or a labbed 30 bravo one. 540ci, boat weighs about 4,200lbs.

My Mirage+ was blowing out everywhere so I went to the Rev4 and that thing is a stump puller with very little blow out. The 4 blade is a big improvement for tubing/wake boarding with just a small penalty on the top end. Borrow a prop from BBlades and find out if it works for you.

I just finished testing out some different props on my boat over the weekend. existing props were mirage plus 23 pitch. first I tested was 21 mirage three blades picked up 300 rpm and 2.4 mph the other was a set of mercury offshore 4 blade 21 pitch dropped 100 rpm lost 1/2 mph but was much stronger at low and midrange. I am sticking with the three blades for my boat. If your interested I'll sell you the four blades for what I got in them. $360. shipped if you want the flo torque hubs {new} add $95. hubs are trs/ bravo 1.
