I drove a later 90's 24 back when they were new and it did porpoise. How much compared to yours obviously I couldn't tell you. Another thing to try if your drive and tabs are working properly, throw a few hundred pounds of sand bags up front to see of it helps. I'm with SB, if your drive and tabs are all the way down, it should plow through the water with no porpoising. There are numerous brands that do porpoise, but not to the point of being un-drivable.

It will porpoise with a Mirage prop and any trim. Put a Bravo 22" 4 blade on it and it will go away, but you'll lose a few mph on top speed.

Alot of water did drain out when i pulled the plug after coming out of the river. Not enough the bilge came on (had it on auto). How much water typically should come out of the bottom of the boat after normal use say 2 hrs of riding ? It ran out for several minutes.

With my outboard bowrider i could stay out all day with never more than a cupfull of water to come out with the plug at the end of the day

if you are just cruising around, no extra water should get in the bilge. Be wary, some coolers drain into the bilge and can fool you into thinking there is a leak, but if you don't have that or it was dry, you need to figure out where it's getting in.

I dont honestly know how much water was i the bilge when i brought it home. In the process of planing out i had the boat stood up pretty far in the water enough that i guess any water would have gone to the back. I would say that probably 5-6 gallons ran out.

I dont like how on the 240 my thru hulls are basically below water. I dont know how to tell where the water is getting in. I cant see anything behind or below the motor (its just impossible to look back there without being a circus monkey)

Something is definitely wrong. Used to have a 240 with a 502Mag that ran right up to 65. Bit of porpoise that you could trim through it and a bit of chine walk around 60+, but manageable.

You need to listen to what Griff said. He knows what he's talking about. Taking on water is a separate issue from the porpoising.

My buddy has a 4 blade 23p thats hes going to let me try. Before i go buying one to find that i have other problems. Hopefully its just a prop issue.

You guys have me very worried now that i had 5 or 6 gals of water in the boat. I just went out and looked with a flashlight at the lower unit. No obvious areas of water intrusuin. Saw the rubber boots on the outdrive couldnt see any cracksbut that doesnt mean anything

You may have a crack in the bottom. My buddy had a 2 inch crack going side to side across the keel and the boat wouldn't even get on plane. Just stood up trying like hell. We were on vacation and did a quick repair. Worked fine till the last day and it cracked again!

5-6 gallons is a lot of water in 2 hours especially if you don't know if the auto bilge kicked on or not.

The exhaust tips being at the water line is not a problem unless the tips are not sealed properly to the transom. Just don't come off plane quickly and let water come back into the tips.
