Bravo XR trim leak, help..
 

Recently I noticed that my starboard trim cylinder is leaking fluid, on to the cavitation plate. (while it is storage)
Is there a difference between starboard and port pistons? I can get the repair kit, but how hard is it to fix? It's leaking right behind the zinc ring. (not any fittings) . Should I just buy a good used ? (if I find one.. lol ) or just repair it? Any difference between the standard Bravo 1 and the XR pistons?

Sounds like a seal is leaking, it's a very easy job. Take the cylinder off and there should be a part # stamped on it. Buy a seal kit and it's a 20 min job. Take the end cap off and everything slides right out.

THanks jb.. I will try it. a 20 minute job ends up 2 hours for me. :) I can just see it, pulling something out and everything else falls out all over.. :(

OK. Got the end cap removed. Tried to remove the whole shaft, but seems to be tight, don't want to force it off. Do I just pull on it And does anyone have a diagram of the internals? showing the seals etc? No corrosion at all. Not even sure why it was leaking.

Make sure the other extend hose is removed or at least loose so you're not pulling vacuum while trying to get it out, if the cylinder isn't bent or distorted it should come out fairly easy.

Thanks Buck. It came out ok, but there was a pretty good vacuum.
