Thunderbolt IV V-6 Module
Would installing a V-6 module help with low rpm running issues?
I have a 30 over Mark IV with AFR 305 cyl. heads, Edelbrock Victor Jr intake, Gil wet exhaust, Holley 850 and my cam is 231/235 @050 578/618 lift 112 LS Base timing set to 10 deg. Idle vacuum is 5ish and bouncy I changed the power valve to a 2.5 from a 6.5 and that helped. Once out on the water the boat runs great. Thanks |
When you say low rpm, are you talking idle , planing, ?

Idle, no wake speed.

Idle vacuum should not be bouncy...thats not a wild cam.
Generally speaking , the v6 module with more advance at idle is helpful. But it wont cover up carb problems, vacuum leaks, improperly adjusted valves. Etc etc |
Thanks. That is what I was afraid of. I'm fairly sure there is a vacuum leak under the intake manifold.
Crap |
What Mild said. Vac is too low for that cam and shouldnt bounce.

I had an issue with a SBC I was working on. The idle was all over the place and I was chasing my tail. An old school hot rod guy said plug up the breather openings, one with your hand. I revved up the engine and could feel my hand suck in. It was a slipped intake gasket by a previous owner. I now use Gasgasinch to glue the gasket to the intake before installation. I've not had a leak since.
