How to identify motor with serial number.
 

Buddy just bought an older boat. Has a recently installed Mercury crate motor in it. I know it's a carbureted 454. Just don't know what it's rated at. Would like to find out.

Serial number is 0D835630

How do I reference that?

More research has revealed it's a gen V 454 Mag. What horsepower were these rated at? I know the fuel injected versions were 385 hp.

I think all the 454 mags were right around there hp wise.

A merc dealer who has Mercnet can get all the detailed info about it. And that would be me. FYI

When I log on I will try to remember to look it up.

365HP engine and rated at 350hp at the prop is standard for carbed 454mags.
(Unless they are the older ones that were mated to Alpha's)
